Broken category themes

Trying to use different external themes for categories. For instance have one style sheet set for default but want front page to look different so have created a different style sheet and a front: category that I want to assign that style sheet to. Can't assign the different style to the subcategory, chooses one of the installed themes instead (i think bloo).

I think this is a bug because this is something I was able to do in wikidot.com relatively easily.

Problem Dialog boxes

New installation of Wikidot.org here for an academic institution that will user the site for classes, symposia, research and other uses. There are a number of places where I am getting dialog boxes with exposed HTML code that don't do anything rather than the appropriate page opening. They are at the following places:

When I go to look at/edit my profile under My Account.
When I go to Send Email Invitations in the admin section.
When I go to activate the forum (in this case it is not HTML that appears but simply the url of the site I am working on and I cannot get the forum to activate.

I just ran into an issue with my server at work when trying to save a page with a pretty large "complex" table ([[table]]…[[row]]..[[cell]]…[[/cell]]…[[/row]]…[[/table]]). If I reduce the size of the table, I can eventually get the page to save.

It seems like the the parser can't handle that amount of "wiki syntax" at once. I have pages with a lot more characters, but not as much wiki markup.

On the Pro site a similar error was reported and fixed (http://pro.wikidot.com/ticket:241)

Can you share what the fix was so I can try it on my server?

Typo in SVN Rev. 139 File

I just installed the latest Wikidot 1 package and it tripped over a typo in /var/www/wikidot/lib/ozone/php/core/functions.php on line 147 when creating a new site:

$dir = preg_replace(';/$', '', $dir);

should be:

$dir = preg_replace(';/$;', '', $dir);

A semi-colon was missing after the $ sign.

iframe is NOT transparent in IE 6, cannot pass allowTransparency attribute

I am trying to insert a flash generated menu bar in the top of my wiki site. I am using iframe to do it, and it works perfectly on Safari, Firefox, and IE 7. You can see it here on this test page, under the top graphic (there is also still the normal wiki top menu bar as well, which I would remove later):

It uses swfobject.js with a setting of wmode = transparent to embed the flash menu bar, inside the html file that is [[iframed]] (source is included below).

The problem is that in IE6, the iframe is NOT transparent, it has a white background, completely covering the page for about 300 pixels down.

If I use the "IE DOM Inspector" plug-in in IE6 to "live edit" the html being displayed, the only thing that works is to add allowTransparency="true" to the tag. Instantly, the iframe is transparent and it works as expected.

However, there seems to be no way to actually influence the setting of this from within wikidot, or from the CSS sheet. allowTransparency seems to be an html only parameter, and it is not one of the ones that wikidot allows to be set using [[iframe]]. As you can see from the source below, I try to set it in multiple different places in the CSS file and the wiki source, just for the heck of it.

Any way to get around this? I'd really like to use this flash top menu, but if it can't work on IE 6, I think I have to bag it. Sad, after spending like two days figuring out how to get this far. Here's my source:

Problem with global IP block list for wikidot.com

The co-administrator of one of my wikis seems to have been suddenly blocked from all access to anything to do with Wikidot.com about 2 hours ago (as of this timestamp). I fear that perhaps his IP address might have been added to the Global IP Block List mentioned in our sites Site Manger pages, but there seems to be no way to check the Global IP Block List.

This person is in no way, shape, or form a spammer of any sort. I've advised him to send an email to your support address, but in the future is there some way to troubleshoot issues like this by checking whether somebody has been added to the Global IP Block List before bothering Wikidot support?

More information on this problem. I had my partner do a traceroute from his computer, and compared it to a traceroute from my own computer (I can successfully see all of wikidot.com, but he cannot).

It looks like your wikidot.com servers are hosted by some 3rd party datacenter in Dallas, TX, USA. In my successful traceroute to our specific wiki URL, the destination machine is as2-1.s.wikidot.com, and the router immediately before it is po1.fcr03.dal01.dallas-datacenter.com. (And there are a few more dallas.datacenter.com router hops before those last two.)

In my partner's traceroute, he's getting 100% packet loss at the next hop immediately after po1.fcr03.dal01.dallas-datacenter.com, which means his ping packets (and all other packets, apparently) are being rejected by as2-1.s.wikidot.com. But all my packets, including ping packets, are getting through to that server just fine.

This would seem to conclusively indicate that either his specific IP address or perhaps a subnet address that contains his specific IP address is being globally blocked by wikidot.com. He's on a Verizon network in New Jersey, USA. Did you recently add some Verizon subnet to your Global IP Block List to deal with some spammer originating from that network?

Backup Cron Job

I'm having problems trying to get the site backup Cron job to run without error.

Using Webmin (a slick tool! http://www.webmin.com/), I was able to pull some error messages.
First message:

Output from command /var/www/wikidot/bin/job.sh HandleBackupRequestsJob .. /var/www/wikidot/bin/job.sh: line 20: cd: /var/www/www.wikidot.com/wikidot/bin : No such file or directory /var/www/wikidot/bin/job.sh: line 21: . /job.php: No such file or directory

I'm not sure why the path includes www.wikidot.com, but after removing it, I get past that error and then got this error:

Output from command /var/www/wikidot/bin/job.sh HandleBackupRequestsJob .. ./job.php: line 1: ?php: No such file or directory ./job.php: line 3: /bin: is a directory ./job.php: line 4: syntax error near unexpected token `(' ./job.php: line 4: ` * Wikidot (Community Edition) - free wiki collaboration software'

This is where I'm a bit stuck. I looked at the job.php file, but haven't been able to figure what needs to be edited to fix things. I have not been able to track down where the variable names are set.

Has anyone else run into this one? If so, can you help me fix it?

First Time Login Issue

Hi,

After some hours we managed to install wikidot.
The problem appears to be the first login

You have been inactive quite long while trying to log in and your session data have expired. Please try to click 'log in' once again.

We have checked in the php/actions/LoginAction.php and indeed the $seed is empty.
In the file php/screens/login/LoginIframeScreen.php
after the seed is added the command $runData->sessionGet("login_seed"); gives the right seed.

Editing A Forum Post

Found and Fixed

I just found another bug and tracked down the typo and fixed it :)
This one would cause a fatal error when trying to edit an existing forum post.

In the file /var/www/wikidot/templates/modules/forum/sub/ForumEditPostFormModule.tpl there is a missing "$" in a variable on line 20:

{t}Need help? Check the{/t} {t}documentation{/t}.

After adding the $ to "href="{$URL_DOCS}" the problem was solved.

Can someone update the wikidot1 SVN trunk folder with this fix also?
(Sorry, even if I have permission to upload code, I don't know how)

Trying installation on a VPS

I followed the debian quickstart guide and I got two errors for the first two steps.

The first error occurred when I tried to run

aptitude update

This is the error I got:

I ran "apt-get update" and this solved the first issue.
But then I got a second error when I tried to

install: memcached apache2 php5 php5-cli php-pear php5-dev tetex-bin tetex-extra gs-gpl imagemagick build-essential fakeroot dpkg-dev libmagic1 libmagic-dev subversion postgresql-8.2 postgresql-contrib-8.2 php5-tidy php5-pgsql php5-gd zip

This is the command I inserted and the consequent error message:

Can't Save A Forum Post

I just finished setting up my new Wikidot server at my workplace and everything was going fantastic until I activated the Forum and tried to create my first post. I was able to edit and preview my post just fine, but, when I hit the "Save" button, I get this error:

I can hold off making the Forums visible to my users, but I could really use some help decoding this error message and getting this one fixed quickly.

Files Bug?

Here I go again! ;)

It looks like something is amiss with file handling, specifically linking/downloading.

I uploaded a variety of files to my test server.

Problem #1: all files are identified as "MIPS archive" regardless of the actual file type/extension.
Problem #2: after a successful upload, the file can not be downloaded. The link looks OK when you hover over it, but the actual URL gets changed and it always comes back with a 404 - Not Found error.
I took some screen shots to show what's happening:

Note the URL looks OK, but the file type is wrong.

Note the status bar shows what appears to be the correct link information while hovering over the file link:

Clicking the link produces this - the path is totally incorrect!

The actual file uploaded is where (I think) it should be on the Wikidot server:

Problems logging into wikidot.org

I tried logging in today to make a couple of replies. I'm using Opera 9.25 for Windows XP Home Edition.
When I first opened the login box, my opera wand recognized it and all I had to do was press the wand
in order to quickly log in, as I've done it on that site before. However, at my first try, I was met with
this message:

Error processing the request.
You have no valid security token which is required to prevent identity theft.
Please enable cookies in your browser if you have this option disabled and reload the page.

Notice that it says wikidot.com, not org.

I then tried logging into wikidot.com first. Worked without a hitch. Then I went over to the .org-site, but to my surprise, I was not logged in. I guess wikidot.org is not a part of the wikidot.com community huh. May I ask why?
Also, I don't recall whether I had to regsiter anew when I first started browsing the .org-site, or if I could just use my standard login.

Well, I then gave it a second try, manually writing in the login info instead of using the wand function.
This is what I got:

wikidot.com security error:
Your authentication token in the request is not valid. Please enable cookies in your browser and try to repeat the action.
If you see this message on the page not associated with the wikidot.com wiki hosting it probably means an indentity theft attempt or improper use of wikidot.com service.

I never managed to login again with Opera from this computer (will try another one later today). Right now I'm using IE.
