Trying to use different external themes for categories. For instance have one style sheet set for default but want front page to look different so have created a different style sheet and a front: category that I want to assign that style sheet to. Can't assign the different style to the subcategory, chooses one of the installed themes instead (i think bloo).

I think this is a bug because this is something I was able to do in wikidot.com relatively easily.

New installation of Wikidot.org here for an academic institution that will user the site for classes, symposia, research and other uses. There are a number of places where I am getting dialog boxes with exposed HTML code that don't do anything rather than the appropriate page opening. They are at the following places:

When I go to look at/edit my profile under My Account.
When I go to Send Email Invitations in the admin section.
When I go to activate the forum (in this case it is not HTML that appears but simply the url of the site I am working on and I cannot get the forum to activate.

I'll check this myself. In the meantime do this:

disable the cronjob (remove the line with HandleBackupRequestsJob from /etc/crontab)

issue the backup using the browser

sudo -u www-data /path/to/wikidot/bin/job.sh HandleBackupRequestsJob

You'll see what's the error.

Remember this is the same code in wikidot.com and wikidot.org. Since site backups are fairly intensive, they're done offline via a cron job as Piotr explains.

You could configure this to run every 5 seconds without any performance hit, which would give you near-instant backups.

Right, we need to set up the cronjobs…

The backup is queued to be done and then every minute there is a cron job run, that checks if there are some backup tasks pending and performs them.

See wikidot/files/crontab file and if it makes sense, append it to the /etc/crontab file. You need to change the user in each line. Just replace www-data with user you run wikidot as.

I raised a bug on this: 17.

64 should be OK. If you have some problems (that can appear on very specific pages) you can try if increasing it makes sense.

But sometimes increasing the memory limit means that script will hit the time limit, so probably setting it too high is also not a perfect solution.

Summing up, this all depends on way you use Wikidot.

And yes, upgrading pcre installs the default Debian/Ubuntu version, that uses stack, so you need to recompile it again, to benefit from it.
